“The history of the Works is a biography of thousands of people of a large metallurgical family. This is a story of achievements and losses, hard work and discoveries, challenges and victories, records and recognition. This is a story of love for the work of life, which has lasted for 90 years and will continue to do so. Wherever we are today – at the production site, on the front lines or in a volunteer hub – we, Zaporizhstal employees, are united by common values. We want to live in a free, strong and independent country of the future, the future of our children. We want to make our country such by ourselves. We feel the power in our hands and the thirst for changes in our hearts. So we will definitely do this – together!”, – Roman Slobodianiuk, General Director of Zaporizhstal, said.

Given the state of martial law, the Works refused to hold mass gathering festivities in order not to expose its employees to danger. The celebrations were held in specially equipped protective shelters. In particular, the employees who made the greatest contribution to the stable operation of the Works during the war, the development of new products and took an active part in the volunteer movement were awarded and presented with gifts at the city’s “Unbreakable Hub”.

On the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Works, Roman Slobodianiuk personally congratulated Zaporizhstal employees, volunteers and mobilised personnel, who are defending the country in the ranks of the Defence Forces, at their duty locations. The General Director  of the enterprise thanked the soldiers for their courage and contribution to bringing the Victory closer. Currently, more than 1,050 steelworkers are serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, defending their homeland and the right to peaceful labour.

The significant contribution of the enterprise’s youth to ensuring stable operations and strengthening the volunteer movement was also recognised as part of Zaporizhstal’s anniversary celebration. Diplomas and gifts were awarded to youth activists of the Works, as well as to the winners of the 47th Scientific and Technical Conference dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Zaporizhstal. In general, every fourth employee at the Works is young people under the age of 35.
