The team championship of Ukraine on track and field athletics, in which the best sportsmen from all Ukraine have taken part, has opened on January 27th, 2014 in field-and-track athletics indoor arena (manege) of “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works. A media briefing with participation of Ruslan Bozhko, Chief fi-nancial officer of the «Zaporizhstal» Steel Works and Igor Gotsula, the first deputy of the Minister of youth and sports of Ukraine – the President of Federation of track and field athletics of Ukraine (FLAU), was organized after completion of solemn opening ceremony, where cooperation of FLAU with the «Zaporizhstal» Steel Works have been summarized.
The «Zaporizhstal» Steel Works in April 2013 has signed the Memorandum of cooperation with the Federation of track and field athletics of Ukraine. The Memorandum foresees development of necessary material and technical basis for training and competitions of high level in the sports indoor arena, supporting of leading sportsmen of the region.
For the last two years the «Zaporizhstal» Steel Works has directed on support and development of sport more than 21 million UAH, (2013 – 8,5 million UAH, 2014-12,8 million UAH), among other things in the limits of fulfilment of conditions of the Memorandum for cooperation with FLAU the Steel Works has directed 7,2 million UAH (2013 – 3,5 million UAH, 2014 – 3,7 million UAH) on modernisation of track and field athletics indoor arena that is on replacement of leaded panels at building facades, repair of guest sanitary facilities, repair of facades of building hall, modernisation of heating system, system of arena vocalization, installation of the monitoring system of access, photo finish system, renewal of gym exercise hall. Along with that, the Steel Works carries out support of leading sportsmen of the region (among them 6 athletes), by provision of personal grants.
”The Steel Works will do everything in power, in order that preparation of sportsmen passed in modern and com-fortable conditions. We pretend, that the status of modern object for preparation for Olympic games was surely assigned to our sports indoor arena, where stars of the world sport who will show the best results at the international competitions, and who will defend sport honour of Ukraine were born” – has noted Ruslan Bozhko, Chief financial officer of the «Zaporizhstal» Steel Works.
Let’s notice that 18 competitions of the Ukrainian and International level, including 8 Championships and Cups of Ukraine on track and field athletics, Greco-Roman wrestling, hand-to-hand fighting and athletic competitions “Bogatyrskie igry”, in which more than 5000 persons have taken part, were held in the sports indoor arena in 2014.
The Steel Works on a constant basis carries out support of the sports organisations of Zaporozhye region that is the Steel Woks provides the sports indoor arena for training to leading sportsmen and pupils of Specialized Chil-dren and Youth Sports Schools of the Olympic Reserve (SDUShOR), to sportsmen of “Invasport”, finances lessons on rowing, sailing. In 2014, around 800 thousand UAH has been directed on these purposes.
