The «Zaporizhstal» Steel Works established 20 personal scholarships for students of Zaporizhean higher education institutions. The “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works following the corporate social responsibility of Metinvest Group allocated funds to 20 personal scholarships for the best students of Zaporizhean educational institutions such as: Zaporizhia National University, Zaporizhia National Technical University, Zaporizhia State Engineering Acadamy and metallurgical college (ZSEA).
About setting of personal scholarships to the best students informed the CEO of the «Zaporizhstal» Steel Works Rostislav Shurma, during the planned meeting with students and presidents of Zaporizhean higher education institutions that was held on 27th of January, 2015.
“Zaporizhstal” needs professional ambitious specialists, who are ready to develop and make progress, to include their intellect and work in the development of Ukraine, Zaporizhean region and our Works. On the system basis we cooperate with Zaporizhean educational institutions, only in 2014 we employed 266 graduated students on basic metallurgical specialities”, – the CEO of the «Zaporizhstal» Steel Works Ros-tislav Shurma pointed out.
The meetings of students with management team and leading specialists of the «Zaporizhstal» Steel Works is passed on permanent basis it is a new quality level of master class, where the best leaders and specialists of “Zaporizhstal” give student the new knowledge based on practical experience.
During the meeting students asked Rostislav Shurma a set of questions concerning the situation in Ukrainian industry, difficulty of work of iron and steel plants in the conditions of economic and political crisis, further prospects of the Works development.
“Production results of the Works’ operation in 2014 speak for itself. In spite of all problems and difficult economic conditions, we were able not only to build up a production but also continue ecological modernization of our production assemblies: 600 million UAH invested in the modern blast furnace №4 with the aspiration system, 730 million UAH – in the new hydrochloric pickling line in the cold rolling department, building of gas-purifying equipment proceeds on sinter machines. We believe in the future of Ukraine, Zaporozhye and our Works”, pointed out the CEO of the «Zaporizhstal» Steel Works, answering the questions of students.
Placing stake on young people, the «Zaporizhstal» Steel Works established personal scholarships for students in order to motivate young people to get post secondary education of high quality. The scholarships will be appointed to the students of different specialities of three Zaporizhean educational institutions (ZNTU, ZSEA, ZNU) and metallurgical college of ZSEA on condition that the grade point average of studies is over 4,7 and active participation in scientific and public life of higher education institution. The size of scholarship comes to 500 UAH (for students in college) and 700 UAH for students of higher education institutions. Personal scholarships are approved according to the results of each end-of-semester exams, based on the minuets of meeting of scholarship committee of a large scientific board that includes representative of the «Zaporizhstal» Steel Works.The scholarship holders of the «Zaporizhstal» Steel Works have priority right in employment to the Works.
Every year 1500 students from higher education institutions, colleges and vocational schools do an introductional and pregraduation practice and externship on the Works.
