Zaporizhstal Confirmed Compliance with International Quality, HSE and Energy Management Standards

In 2023, Metinvest Group’s Zaporizhstal successfully passed supervisory audits of its integrated management system for compliance with the international occupational health and safety standard ISO 45001:2018 and the energy management system standard ISO 50001:2018, as well as recertification audits for quality and environmental compliance according to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.

The audits were conducted by auditors of “Bureau Veritas Certification Ukraine” at the sintering, blast furnace, steelmaking, hot and cold rolling shops, as well as auxiliary and energy subdivisions. The experts audited the quality and environmental and occupational health and safety management systems. They analysed internal documentation and compliance with the established work rules at the subdivisions. The auditors paid special attention to the development of new approaches to identifying and assessing occupational health and safety risks and to the measures taken to strengthen customer focus.

As part of the audit, representatives of the audit company “Technical and Management Services” checked the operation of the energy system of the blast furnace and oxygen compressor shops, as well as the hot rolling shop and the combined heat and power plant. During the audit, the auditors praised the level of the energy saving programme and the high level of staff involvement in the continuous production process.

Following the audits, Zaporizhstal received new certificates confirming its compliance with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 quality and environmental standards and was recommended for renewal of its certificates of compliance with ISO 50001:2018 and ISO 45001:2018 standards.

It should be noted that Zaporizhstal is certified and has been regularly confirming its compliance with the international standard for quality management systems since 2003, with international standards for environmental management systems and occupational health and safety management since 2008, and with the international standard for energy management systems since 2013.

As a reminder, in October of this year, Metinvest Group’s Zaporizhstal successfully passed the process of expanding the scope of the certificate of conformity of hot-rolled steel to  EN 10025-1 for S235-275 J0-J2 and S355 J0-J2 steel grades.
