PJSC ”Zaporozhstal” before the end of the year 2015 will export to the consumers nearly 700 thousand tons of metallurgical products through Zaporozhye river port by the vessels of ACK “Ukrrechflot”. Maintaining the scope of shipment at last year level, in complicated economic conditions, became possible due to extension of navigation period till December 20, 2015.
We remind, that in March 2015, within the framework of the visit of Andrey Pyvovarskiy, the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine to Zaporozhye, the meeting took place between Rostyslav Shurma, CEO of PJSC ”Zaporozhstal” and Alexander Zyskind Director of Zaporozhye river port. The issues of strategic partnership of PJSC ”Zaporozhstal” and ACK “Ukrrechflot” regarding the control of navigation system at Dnieper river, process capabilities of Zaporozhye river port had been discussed at the meeting. As a result of this, Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine considered the issue on determining the period of first open water and closing of navigation in 2015, depending upon the weather conditions and repair works at canal locks.
According to the decision, the navigation period will last to December 20, 2015, taking into account the climate conditions – it will permit the Steel Works to ship within this period nearly 50 thousand tons of products to the consumers, and at the same time, to save up to 3 million UAH on logistics expenses.
PJSC “Zaporozhstal” resumed the strategic partnership with Zaporozhye river port in October 2012. The Steel Works shipped nearly 2 million tons of metal products to consumers from different countries of the world through Zaporozhye river port within 4 years of cooperation (from 2012 to 2015). Scope of PJSC ”Zaporozhstal” products amounts to 80% of all export cargo shipment of Zaporozhye river port. In 2015, export cargo from the Steel Works was sent by water transport to the consumers of 4 countries of Europe (Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey).
Within the framework of cooperation with PJSC ”Zaporozhstal” , all necessary conditions were provided for consistent, timely shipping of products to the consumers – the area for the plant’s cargo disposition was expanded, the quantity of loading/unloading machinery was increased, city motor road was repaired, which goes from the Steel Works to the port. Also, the program- information package was elaborated, which permits to keep a record and control the cargo location in the river port, allow quickly and efficiently make up the shipload lots, improve the logistics of deliveries.
