On the 7th of December, 2015, «Zaporizhstal» PJSC has got in return a part of debt on reimbursement of the value-added tax in amount of UAH 297 million, which permitted for the Works to recommence the active phase of the gas cleaning facilities erection at Sinter Plant. At the moment, indebtedness of the state bodies towards the Works on VAT reimbursement, has decreased up to amount of UAH 727.9 million, including overdue amount towards the Works has decreased up to UAH 525.8 million.
The Chief Executive Officer of «Zaporizhstal» PJSC Rostyslav Shurma commented the reimbursement of the VAT overdue owed to the Works:
«They returned a part of VAT overdue owed to the Works, the government heard about our problem. We used those funds immediately for salary payment to the employees, for repayment of debts for energy consumption, recommenced erection of gas cleaning facilities at Sinter Plant. «Zaporizhstal» is the biggest exporter, which monthly credits the state budget in amount from UAH200 to UAH300 million, making advance payment of VAT. Most of the Ukrainian Steel Works are lack of own funds today, and most often they are running at negative profitability. It is difficult for us to obtain credits for modernization and updating of production facilities due to political and economic situation in Ukraine, other financing sources are absent. The State authority bodies should understand that the stable running of the Works, as of any enterprise-exporter, realization of the program on erection of the gas cleaning facilities at the Sinter Plant are possible only at the condition of VAT reimbursement in good time and of debt returning, which was accumulated by the state towards the Works, in full size and in set-up terms».
Earlier, the Works was partially disconnected from power supply during one and a half day due to its debt towards «Zaporozhyeoblenergo». «Zaporizhstal» PJSC paid off a part of the debt towards the state-owned monopolist, but it was forced to suspend performing of the investment program on ecological modernizing of the Sinter Plant due to lack of funds, owing to the accumulated debt of the state to the enterprise.
«Zaporizhstal» PJSC is the largest taxpayer in Ukraine and in Zaporozhye area. «Zaporizhstal» PJSC, upon the results of 2014, transferred to the budgets of all levels over UAH 1.4 billion, and for 10 months of 2015 – UAH 2.1 billion.
