On June 17th, 2016, PJSC «Zaporizhstal» has summarized the contest of social initiatives “We are the City” – 38 winners are defined, each of which will receive the grant at the rate up to 100 thousand hryvnyas on development of social projects important for city. The total sum of the means directed on payment of grants to winners is more then 2,3 million hryvnyas. (In 2013 – 700 thousand hryvnyas, in 2014 – 1,1 million hryvnyas, in 2015 – 1,7 million hryvnyas).
Every year scope of the contest grows, more and more active Zaporozhye citizens offer their social initiatives. 254 entry applications have been submitted in 2016 (in 2013 – 130, in 2014 – 120, and in 2015 – 163 applications).
Among winners, there are initiatives, which concern development of children’s – teenage sports, volunteering, projects for people with special requirements, accomplishment of parks, public gardens, and house land plots, ideas on city landscaping, organisation of cultural and educational events.
Among interesting projects-winners in 2016: installation of tennis tables, bicycle parking, street training apparatus, platforms for people with special requirements; development of travel guide to Hortitsa and tourist route for travel in Razumovsky flooded areas; the project on creation of a book yard near the library for organisation of cultural events; organisation of the first All Ukrainian festival of Beatlemania, and also educational projects connected with studying of foreign languages and increasing of financial competence level.
Online voting for the «People’s project» becomes distinctive feature of the contest in 2016, in which 7,5 thousand of Zaporozhye citizens has taken part. The Initiative of Zaporozhye regional social organization «Sports Club AYAKS”- “Help to young football players” on accomplishment of five-a-side football field for children of preschool and elementary-school age, became the People’s project, which has got the maximum number of votes. “People’s project” has got additional points to the total evaluation, made by the advisory council and reached the final.
