On the 5th of April, 2016, PJSC «Zaporizhstal» presented the opening of the fourth season of the social initiatives contest «We are the City» for the citizens of Zaporozhye in the Metallurgists’ Cultural Centre. The official starting of the contest was announced by the Expert Council Chairman, Director of Capital Construction & Investments of PJSC «Zaporizhstal» Aleksey Lebedev.
The independent Expert Council of the contest «We are the city, 2016» was introduced on that special occasion to Zaporozhye citizens. The Council included 12 experienced public organizations of the city, recognized in Zaporozhye experts in their fields. The contest «We are the City, 2016» had been held in Zaporozhye since 2013. For that period, the citizens of Zaporozhye forwarded over 500 interesting ideas, among which 58 winners were defined; they got grants from «Zaporizhstal» Works in order to realize their projects. For three years, the grants fund made up about UAH 4 million.
In 2016, the budget of the contest «We are the City» was increased up to UAH 2 million. The winners will get grants for development and realization of their ideas, in the amount of about UAH 100 thousand. This year, the contest will be held in three areas: landscaping and creation of recreation areas; sports, education and culture; voluntary and patriotic upbringing.
The outstanding feature of the contest in 2016 will be on-line polling for the «Public Project». In May, each person who wishes will be able to choose the best, to his opinion, project among semi-finalists in the Web site of the contest. The project, winning the public polling, will get additional points, which will be added to his final assessment. БDue to on-line polling, all active citizens of the city will actually enter the Expert Council membership.
Registration of the project applications, consultations and execution of the documents will be performed until the 30th of April, 2016 inclusive. The aim of the Zaporozhye social initiatives contest «We are the City» is to involve as many active citizens and regional residents as possible for realization of the social projects, aimed at raising of the living standards in Zaporozhye. Noncommercial organizations, municipal bodies and initiative citizens may participate in the contest.
