The opening of sculpture of principal character of movie “Spring at Zaprechnaya street” took place in Zaporozhye on November 15, 2013 on the eve of 80 Year Anniversary of “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works. Sculptural and decorative composition was composed and installed on the initiative and on the account of “Zaporozhstal” Steel Works within the framework of social strategy of Metinvest Group.
The sculpture installed in the Metallurgist avenue, represent the steelmaker Sasha Savchenko, sitting on the bench, and when the passer-by sits near on the bench, – from the loud-speaker styled on the order of the fifties sounds the melody of song “When spring comes – of that I do not know…” The author of sculptural and decorative composition is the painter and renovator Tygran Akobyan, and its cost is around 160 thousand UAH.
“Sasha Savchenko is the man of labour, he is fascinating, open hearted lad, rank and file working man, who likes and know how to work. He looks like thousands of our Zaporozhstal employees, in the same way loving its Steel Works, and its profession of steelworker.“ I want to make a profound bow to Grygoriy Konstantynovich Pometun, who became the pre-image of the movie principal character, and in his person – to make a bow and to thank all our veterans of the Steel Works, who up to now, for us, young generation, employees of the Steel Works, are the example to follow”, noted General director of “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works Rostyslav Shurma.
Let us remind, that movie “Spring at Zarechnaya street” made in 1956 by producers Felyks Myroner and Marlen Khutsyev, collected more than 30 million viewers in film distribution and exhibition system of USSR. The movie was shot at “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works. The leading role of steel maker Sasha Savchenko was played by actor Nykolay Rybnykov. The Hero of Socialist labour, employee of “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works Grygoriy Pometun trained Nykolay Rybnykov of the skills of profession of the steel maker.
