Metinvest’s Humanitarian Hub at Zaporizhstal Assembled Over 1 Million Basic Necessity Kits

Metinvest’s humanitarian hub at Zaporizhstal, which has been operating since the first days of the full-scale war, continues to receive, sort, and deliver humanitarian aid to those affected by the hostilities. During its operation, the humanitarian hub has provided over 1 million food and hygiene packages to Ukrainians.

The majority of this aid – nearly 800 thousand food and hygiene packages – was organized within the “Saving Lives” humanitarian project, founded by Metinvest in coordination with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation. The humanitarian initiative combined 10 foundations and non-governmental organizations, along with over 250 donor companies worldwide. Within the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation’s “Saving Lives” program, 245,000 packages were assembled and distributed.

Roman Slobodyanyuk, General Director of Zaporizhstal Iron and Steel Works, remarked, “Our strength and resilience in the face of wartime challenges lie in our unity and our ability to respond swiftly to social needs. The humanitarian hub at Zaporizhstal, created in the first days of the full-scale war, has already shipped over 1 million basic necessity kits to Ukrainians. The hub will continue its operation as long as Ukrainians need such support.”

More than 500 Zaporizhstal employees volunteered to help assemble necessity kits for internally displaced persons, residents of frontline towns, and other vulnerable groups of Ukrainians. Over 3,000 vehicles were involved in delivering these “packages of life” to humanitarian aid distribution points in various regions including Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Dnipro, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Odesa, and others.

These packages contain essential food items, baby food, medicines, hygiene products, household items, and more.

It’s worth reminding that employees of Metinvest Group enterprises in Zaporizhzhia also received food packages from the “Saving Lives” initiative. In total, more than 13,000 workers and their families, as well as veterans, received humanitarian aid from the Сompany.
