During the working visit to “Zaporizhstal” on the 28th of November 2012 the Chairman of Zaporozhye Regional State Administration Alexandr Peklushenko got acquainted with the construction progress of the new sinter machine No.1 with high-performance end-of-pipe technology — technological gas cleaning with 2 electric filters.
Installation and construction works of the new sinter machine equipped with modern technological gas cleaning come to the end at Iron and Steel Works “Zaporizhstal”. The commissioning of the new sinter machine will let the company to decrease pollutant emissions to atmosphere by 10%.
The project of renovation of the sinter machine No.1 of Iron and Steel Works “Zaporizhstal” is implemented as a part of “The Program of Ecological Crisis Overcoming of the city of Zaporozhye”, approved by Regional Council. The investments into the project of sinter machine No.1 renovation with modern technological gas cleaning installation will amount to about 240 million UAH.
Alexandr Peklushenko expressed a high opinion about investments of Iron and Steel Works “Zaporizhstal” into modernization and renovation of production, implementation of modern technologies. «This amplitudinous construction shows the responsibility of Iron and Steel Works “Zaporizhstal” and efficient decision making of its senior management. Only professionals could have done such a colossal work within three months. I’m ready to put them six-mark according to five-mark grading system», — announced journalists the Chairman of Zaporozhye Regional Administration A. Peklushenko.
“First of all, the renovation project of sinter machine has ecological effect. The improvement of ecological situation, the decrease of development pressure to environment of the region is our duty to the dwellers of Zaporozhye region”, — remarked the General Director of “Zaporizhstal” Rostislav Shurma.

Production capacities of sinter plant of Joint Stock Company Integrated Iron and Steel Works “Zaporizhstal” consist of 6 sintering machines. As of today, 5 units are in operation in the shop, sintering machine №1 is shut down for reconstruction.
Sintering machine is the main production equipment, designed for the manufacturing of sinter by means of baking of ore fines and concentrates.
№ 1 sinter machine complex includes:

– technological gas cleaning is equipped by:
2 electrical precipitators, decreasing the concentration of dust in the flue gases up to 50 mg/ m3 down to European standards,
-absorbers, decreasing the SО2 concentration (sulphur dioxide) in flue gases up to 400 mg /m3., down to European stand-ards,
-ducts of fume laden gas and clean gas,
-system of control and monitoring of hazardous substances content in flue gases,
– unit for preparation and recycling of collected dust,
– exhaust fan section,
– external power and electrical supply networks, with length of cable routing of 20 km.
