Zaporizhzhia “weight-lifting triad” – Lyubov and Viktoriya Cherepakha, as well as Victoria Mosiyash – won nine “gold” and one “silver” medal of the XXIV World Championship, which was held in Turin, Italy. Financial assistance in organizing the trip of athletes to these competitions was provided by “Zaporizhstal”, “Zaporozhogneupor” and “Zaporozhkoks”.
In addition to the medal triumph, Zaporizhzhia weight lifters set a number of new records at this Championship. For example, Lyubov Cherepakha equaled the title record of Roman Mikhalchuk, Merited Master of Sports of Ukraine on kettlebell lifting, becoming the best in the world championship for the thirteenth time. Victoria Cherepakha raised the kettlebell 225 times, which was her best result in 2016, and Victoria Mosiyash got ahead of her nearest competitor in a snatch by 34 points – this is the biggest gap on points between the first and second places among all weight categories in all disciplines of women’s competitions at the Italian championship.
