SCM businesses and Rinat Akhmetov Foundation provide UAH 1.4 billion to help Ukraine and Ukrainians through 40 days of the war

NEWS

SCM businesses, Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and Shakhtar Football Club have already donated approximately UAH 1.4 billion, or almost $48 million, to help Ukraine and Ukrainians from February 24, 2022 to April 4, 2022 inclusive. In particular, this amount includes humanitarian aid to civilians (food, medicines, essential items, evacuation, shelters, etc.), as well as support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Territorial Defence Forces in dozens of cities (clothing, different protective equipment, first aid kits, etc.).

Every business of Rinat Akhmetov, his Charitable Foundation and Shakhtar Football Club are doing their best to help people, cities and the state to survive the war with Russia. In order for the humanitarian aid to be received and felt by as many people as possible, the destinations and quantities are determined in coordination with the central and local authorities.

Thus, SCM provided UAH 100 million to the Kiev Territorial Defence Forces in the first days of the invasion and Metinvest prepared about 6,000 beds for internally displaced persons and supplies them with essential items. About 40,000 hedgehogs and thousands of plates for armoured vests have been made from Metinvest steel and handed over to our defenders. The Group is procuring protective equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Territorial Defence Forces for UAH 345 million.

In March alone, DTEK supplied free electricity to medical institutions, military and security agencies and bread producers in Kyiv, Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions for a total of UAH 32 million. DTEK also transferred about 300 tonnes of coal for evacuation trains of Ukrzaliznytsia and 100 tonnes of coal for the needs of local communities.

Since the start of the full-scale war, Rinat Akhmetov Foundation has donated over 500,000 of medicine items and over 60,000 food packages to Ukraine. The humanitarian aid of the Foundation will help 720 thousand people to survive.
