Zaporizhstal and Zaporizhia Coke of Metinvest Group temporarily put their production into conservation mode

Due to the escalation of hostilities in the region, Metinvest Group is switching a portion of the equipment at Zaporizhstal and Zaporizhia Coke to hot conservation mode. The decision was made by Metinvest’s Humanitarian Mission Coordination Center in Zaporizhia.

On the basis of Zaporizhstal, the Humanitarian Mission Coordination Center of Metinvest enterprises in Zaporizhia was created under the leadership of Oleksandr Mironenko, the General Director of Zaporizhstal. The Center undertakes to make prompt decisions regarding the support of work teams, the further activities of enterprises and the provision of humanitarian assistance to Zaporizhia region.

The Coordination Center has developed a roadmap for the conservation of enterprises, according to which Zaporizhstal has processed the available iron and steel and suspended the steel products output. The sinter plant of the enterprise, all rolling and auxiliary facilities have been completely stopped. The Blast-Furnace and steelmaking shops are in the hot conservation mode.

Zaporizhia Coke is also carrying out work on hot conservation of coke oven batteries and suspends its work. Energy and chemical shops will be partially stopped, and auxiliary facilities will be completely stopped.

The enterprises have identified specialists who will be involved in the safe shutdown of equipment and maintaining production facilities in the conservation mode. For employees who remain at their workplaces at the enterprises, corporate transportation, free hot meals, salary payments, and extra payments in the amount of 30% of the salary are provided. In case of an emergency, safe shelters with the necessary provisions, medicines and communications are equipped for employees at the enterprises. For all employees, not operating during the period of hot conservation or working remotely, the workplace and 100% of regular rate are retained.

Hot conservation involves the suspension and transfer of industrial units to a slow run, with the possibility of a quick start-up of equipment and the restoration of previous production volumes in the future. The decision to resume a full-fledged production process will be made promptly based on the situation. Now the key goal is to save the life and health of each employee, to return to normal life and peaceful work as soon as possible.
