On the eve of the New Year holidays, the Zaporizhstal Works donated 100 doses of donated blood to the Zaporizhzhia Regional Clinical Hospital.
– Every year before St. Nicholas Day, we come to the regional children’s hospital and bring gifts. But these are unusual gifts – not sweets, and not tangerines. We donate blood so that children with haematology oncology can tolerate the disease more easily and recover faster. We wish good health, and our parents – also endurance and confidence. – says the head of the department of PJSC “Zaporizhstal” Yaroslav Kril, who handed over the certificate for blood doses to the hospital.
The blood was collected thanks to the traditional participation of the Works’ employees in the Donor Days, which are held five times a year. This year, even COVID-19 did not prevent the Zaporizhstal employees from doing a good job. Many willing donors donated blood considering all precautions.
Blood donation to a clinical hospital is another tradition of Zaporizhstal residents, which we adhere to, because we know that this blood is very necessary for the treatment of children with cancer.
– Our patients need high-dose chemotherapy. Moreover, some of the children need in the further transplant or bone marrow transplant. This requires support – substitution therapy with drugs and blood components, there is no other way. – says the head of the Department of Pediatric Oncohematology of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Clinical Hospital Andrei Borodin.
