In November, Metinvest Group’s Zaporizhstal successfully completed the recertification audit of its integrated management system, meeting the requirements of the international occupational safety standard ISO 45001:2018, as well as the quality and environmental standards ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015.
Auditors from Bureau Veritas Certification Ukraine conducted the assessment in the sinter, blast furnace, hot rolling, cold rolling and metalware shops, as well as in the auxiliary and utility departments.
The specialists concentrated on the occupational safety management system, the state of production and environmental protection equipment and the related documentation. The auditors highlighted the diligent efforts in developing and implementing measures to enhance occupational safety and improve customer focus.
Yuliia Lashchenko, a leading specialist at Bureau Veritas Certification Ukraine, praised the risk management practices and innovative approaches to occupational safety, stating: “The advanced electronic system for continuous monitoring of measures under the Safe Workspace programme, along with worker training through the Stress-Polygon initiative, represent modern and effective methods for enhancing the occupational safety management system at Zaporizhstal, which could serve as a model for other industrial enterprises.”
After the audit, Zaporizhstal reaffirmed that its integrated management system meets the requirements of ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 standards.
It is worth noting that Zaporizhstal has been certified and has consistently demonstrated compliance with the international quality management system standard since 2003; it has also adhered to international standards for environmental management systems and occupational health and safety management since 2008.
