On the 17th of October, 2015, over 500 employees of Zaporizhzhya industrial enterprises PJSC “Zaporizhstal”, PJSC “Zaporozhkoks”, PJSC “Zaporozhogneupor”, volunteers and citizens took part in the voluntary event “Green City” on cleaning and improvement of one of the central avenues in Zaporizhzhya.
The participants by their joint efforts restored the facade of Maykovskoho Avenue, which is popular among the citizens, restored and painted benches, installed new rubbish bins. They used over 100 litres of paint in total. In addition, during the clean-up event, the volunteers gathered and removed about 550 tonnes of garbage and dry leaves from the area, performed crown reduction pruning for the trees, as well as beautification of the area and landscape design for flower beds.
“City of Zaporizhzhya has vast natural potential. Not that many Ukrainian cities can be proud of being situated on the Dnipro River and of having such beautiful nature. Which is why we think that our major and top-priority task is preserving these natural resources, maintaining the city clean and improving it”, noted the Chief Executive Officer of PJSC “Zaporizhstal” Rostyslav Shurma in the course of the clean-up event.
It is worth noting that the employees of enterprises PJSC “Zaporizhstal”, PJSC “Zaporozhkoks”, and PJSC “Zaporozhogneupor” have been participating in such voluntary events for four years now, contributing to the development of the city and supporting its cleanliness.
