On April 12, 2014, a large-scale corporate voluntary event called “Clean City” took place in Zaporizhzhya, drawing participation from approximately 600 individuals, including employees from various Metinvest Group companies and local citizens.

The event, part of an all-Ukrainian subbotnik (Saturday cleaning day), aimed to enhance the cleanliness and beauty of the city. Volunteers worked diligently to clear rubbish and improve the surroundings in two major city parks: Kirov Park and Metallurgists Park.

In Kirov Park, volunteers removed about 200 tons of rubbish, while also clearing dead branches and fallen tree trunks. In Metallurgists Park, employees organized a mulberry alley, laid out a flower-bed, repaired and painted around 40 benches and trash cans, and improved a playground by bringing in sand and repainting playground statues.

“We traditionally participate in volunteer events which concern cleanup of the hometown. I believe that this is a good example for all citizens and an opportunity to make the city better, cleaner and more beautiful,” stated the General Director of “Zaporizhstal” Integrated Iron and Steel Works, Rostislav Shurma.

The volunteer campaign across the enterprises of Metinvest Group began its active development in late 2012 with the company-wide “Good Deeds Campaign.” This year, the company-wide volunteer event “Clean City” was conducted across 10 cities in the Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Zaporizhzhya regions, gathering over 4,000 participants. During the event, volunteers improved approximately 50 sites, cleaned over 27 hectares, and removed around 300 tons of rubbish. Notably, the “Clean City” initiative was embraced by all companies of the SCM Group.
