During the first stage of the contest of social initiatives “We Are the City”, which was organised by the PJSC “Zaporizhstal”, 254 entry applications from noncommercial organisations, munici-pal authorities and initiative inhabitants are collected. This is the record number of the projects submitted during all 4 years of carrying out of the contest (in 2013 – 130, in 2014 – 120, and in 2015 – 163 applications).
Within April organising committee of the Contest “We Are the City” carried out entry applications acceptance, advised active Zaporozhye citizens on issues relating to writing of the projects.
PJSC “Zaporizhstal” has organised in April the training seminar «Culture and bases of social designing» for the purpose of teaching the initiative citizens to bases of social designing with participation of Ruslan Bahtyev (Kiev), the recognised expert in this area. More than 150 representatives of public organisations and active Zaporozhye citizens have taken part in the training seminar.
The second stage of the contest has started on the May 1st, in which the projects will pass technical experts examination, selection of semi-finalists will be done and also open presentations of semi-finalists projects in front of members of expert advisory body of the contest will be carried out. Winners of the contest will be declared in June.
It stands to mention that the Steel Works annually increases financing of the contest. In 2016, the budget of the contest “We Are the City” is increased up to 2 million hryvnyas. The winners will receive grants up to 100 thou-sand hryvnyas on development and realisation of their ideas.
Online voting for the «People’s project» becomes distinctive feature of the contest in 2016. In May, each wishing to person can choose on the contest web portal the best project, in his opinion, among semi-finalists. The project, which has won the peoples voting, will receive additional points, which will be added to its final estimation. Thanks to the online voting, all active citizens will actually be a part of expert advisory body.
