In April 2014 “Zaporozhstal” Steel Works considerably cut down the power resources consumption: natural gas –by 4,3 million m3 (or by 21%), electrical power by 4,1 million kWh (or by 5%), in comparison with April 2013. Economic effect amounted to more than 22 million UAH in April.
“Zaporozhstal” Steel Works, according to realization of Metinvest Group energy saving program, is working consistently on raising of energy efficiency of production process. Decreasing of power resources consumption at Steel Works takes place against the background of raising of metal products manufacturing. Thus, the growth of all performance figures is noted at “Zaporozhstal” Steel Works in April 2014: iron – by 0,9%, steel – by 0,8%, rolled products – by 2,2% and simultaneous decrease of power resources consumption: natural gas 15,5 million m³ – against 19,8 million m³ in April 2013; purchased electric power– 86 million kWh against 90 million kWh in April 2013.
“We are dealing comprehensively with power saving issues and constantly improve the production process, which permits us to achieve positive dynamics of cost saving for power resources, accordingly, production prime cost” – pointed out Rostyslav Shurma, General director of “Zaporozhstal” Steel Works.
Decreasing of natural gas consumption rate became possible on the account of introduction of technological measures in open hearth steelmaking – introduction of individual parameter chart of furnaces operation, optimization of chimney valve operation and furnace burners, optimization of operation temperature.
