From January to December, 2014, against growth of the production indices (iron – for 9.1%, steel – for 3.8%, roll stock – for 5% ), «Zaporizhstal» Steel Works reduced natural gas consumption for 30 million of m³ (or for 13%).
«Zaporizhstal» SW reduced natural gas consumption from 236 million of m³ in 2013 up to 206 million of m³ in 2014. Daily average consumption of natural gas in 2014 made up 563.8 thousand m³ against 645.8 thousand m³ in 2013.
«In spite of all economic and political complications, «Zaporizhstal» SW could withstand only owing to the effective work of the Works’ employees. Due to sustained economic crisis, we have to implement further the solutions on increasing the production effectiveness; this is a question of survival for the Works», the General Director of «Zaporizhstal» SW Rostyslav Shurma noted.
In 2014, the Works managed to achieve saving of natural gas at the account of implementation of the energy-efficient arrangements at all the production areas; three-quarters of them are realized in steel making production. The energy-management system according to the International Standard ISO 50001 is applied at «Zaporizhstal» SW.
