On the 22nd– 23d of April, 2014, at «Zaporizhstal» SW, the first Compliance Certification was held for meeting the requirements of the International Standard ISO 50001:2011 «Energy Management Systems» (EMS), which was held by the experts from «TÜF Züd Ukraine».
In the course of the First Compliance Certification, the auditors checked functioning of the energy management system, familiarizing themselves with the issues of differential metering of the fuel and energy resources, efficient scheduling and analysis of energy-savings; they estimated the involvement level of the employees into the energy management system. The auditors issued a positive opinion concerning EMS in force and noted its high level.
«Today we did not simply confirmed compliance of the energy management system to the International Standard, but also demonstrated for the auditors the results of our work in this field performed per year. We showed for what it’s worth to apply a complex approach in solution of the priority problems and participation of the whole collective in this process – from the chief executive officer to the average employee», – the General Director of «Zaporizhstal» Rostyslav Shurma noted.
Improvement of energy efficiency and rational utilization of energy resources are included into the list of the top-priority tasks for «Zaporizhstal» SW, being realized within the strategy of Metinvest Group. It’s worth noting that reducing of energy resources consumption at the Works in 2013 was achieved due to optimization of energy resources consumption, adjustment of the optimal facilities operation modes, application of new efficient production processes. So, by the results of 2013, the Works reduced consumption of natural gas for 100 million of m3 (or for 29%) in comparison with the same period of 2012 (in 2012 there was consumed 332 million of m3 , in 2013 – 236 million of m3).
«Positive changes at the Works are of not fragmentary or local character only, this is the system-based work aimed at the global solution of the energy-saving problems», – Michael Levitskiy, the General Director of «TÜF Züd Ukraine» noted.
It’s worth to remind that in 2013, upon the results of audit for the Energy Management System (EMS), which was car-ried out by the corporative partner «TÜF Züd Ukraine» (Germany), «Zaporizhstal» SW has got an International Certifi-cate, confirming the compliance with EMS requirements according to ISO 50001 Standard.
