On the 2nd of October, 2013, «Zaporizhstal» II&SW signed a contract with the Ukrainian company LLC «ProgressGroup» («Progress» Berdychev Machine-Building Plant) for performing the delivery and erection of the gas-cleaning equipment for sinter machine No.2. Installation of the gas-cleaning equipment in the sinter production plant is an important stage of the ambitious programme of the ecological upgrading of the Steel Works belonging to the Metinvest Group, the aim of which is to minimize the production process impact on the environment. The capital investments into the project of erection the gas-cleaning equipment of sinter machine No.2 will make up about UAH 80 million.
The principle and unique character of operation of the new gas-cleaning system of sinter machine No.2 consists in multistage cleaning of exhaust gases: gas is cleaned in the bag filters, separated iron-containing dust from the bag filters returns back to the sinter production plant. Then, by means of reactor, gases, containing the maximum concentration of sulphur dioxide, are cleaned. After reactor, gas flows to the bag filter for the final purification.
«Choosing the gas-cleaning equipment for the second sinter machine, we followed two principles. Firstly, we chose the most advanced technology in the world, which is applied in the sinter-production process; this is a multistage cleaning using the bag filter. Secondly, while choosing the equipment supplier, we intentionally focused on the Ukrainian producers. If the foreign equipment analogue is manufactured in Ukraine, then preference should be given to the domestic brands», – the CEO of «Zaporizhstal» II&SW Rostislav Shurma underlined.
Revamping of the gas-cleaning system of sinter machine No.2 will be performed in two stages, and it anticipates carrying out the design-and-engineering work, equipment delivery, construction-and-erection works and pre-commissioning activities. The beginning of the construction-and-erection works is planned for the end of 2013, start-up of the equipment – in September, 2014. The new gas-cleaning equipment will provide air purification from dust – below 30 mg/m3, for sulphur dioxide – below 400 mg/m3, which would cmeet the requirements of the European norms for emissions, as well as it would permit to reduce the stepwise disposal of slime water from the recirculation system of the sinter plant.
Let’s remind you, that installation of the high-technological gas-cleaning equipment at sinter machine No.2 is one of the main arrangements included into «The Programme of the Environment Safety, Efficient Use of Natural Resources and Providing the Ecological Safety of Zaporozhye City» and into the trilateral agreement between JSC «Zaporizhstal», the Ministry of Environment and Mineral Resources of Ukraine and Zaporozhye Regional Council. In May, 2013, «Zaporiozhstal» II&SW put into operation the new gas-cleaning system of sinter machine No.1.
