Integrated Iron and Steel Works “Zaporozhstal” in its activities make use of complex-integrated approach in the issues of ecological management — such conclusion was made by international auditors, performing the certification of Integrated Management System in the field of quality, labor safety and ecology. i.A. Director of “Veritas Bureau Ukraine” Ivan Sokolov said to this effect during concluding press conference of Genera Director of Integrated Iron and Steel Works “Zaporozhstal” Rostislav Shurma on August 20, 2013.
As it was pointed out by the expert, every year, when arriving to Integrated Iron and Steel Works “Zaporozhstal”, the representatives of “Veritas Bureau” observe positive changes, taking place in the Integrated Management System, paying special attention, namely to ecological component.
“Above all things, I would like to say, that within this period of time, there were no emergency emissions, effluent discharges, other unscheduled situations, and it is very important at such enterprises, as Steel Works” — emphasized Ivan Sokolov, i.A. General Director of “Veritas Bureau Ukraine.- “Any environmental protection measures are cost-based and require the investments. I know many Steel Works of Ukraine and Europe, and well acquainted with the ecological management systems. I must say, that technologies which are implemented by the Steel Works, — are the best ones”.
According to the program of modernization and technical re-equipping of enterprises of Metinvest Group, at Integrated Iron and Steel Works “Zaporozhstal” is implemented the active modernization of production, which envisage the package of technological solutions on significant decreasing of environmental impact. Beginning from August 2012, the Steel Works invested around 500 million UAH into modernization and reconstruction of production capacities.
