It took six 24-hour days to complete the category 3 major overhaul. The blowing in of blast furnace #2 will continue till the end of this week. The company allocated over UAH 85 million for the upgrade.
“Zaporizhstal specialists from the blast furnace shop and engineering department jointly with their colleagues from Metinvest-Promservice and Zaporizhzhia Refractories have completed the upgrade of blast furnace #2. The major overhaul was preceded by a thorough preparation, which allowed to reduce the overhaul by one day,” commented Roman Slobodianiuk, Zaporizhstal General Director.
Nearly 200 company employees and contractors were working on site. The list of completed works includes, among other things, the replacement of the top charger, repair of the cast house equipment, hydraulic and lubrication systems, steel structures and stock house rails, and maintenance of main gas cleaning systems.
The major overhaul of blast furnace #2 was aimed at increasing equipment reliability, enhancing the blast furnace process sustainability, and improving the quality of products.
To remind, Zaporizhstal have allocated over UAH 1.2 billion for the upgrade of their production equipment and gas cleaning systems since the start of the full-scale war. During the full-scale invasion, the programme has been focused on maintaining and upgrading equipment to ensure its stable and reliable operation in unpredictable circumstances.
