The Zaporizhstal Works provided a water carrier for irrigating plants to the Khortytsya National Reserve for watering new seedlings located in the reserve.
“All of us want to see Khortytsya as the lungs of Zaporizhzhia,” said Maxim Ostapenko, General Director of the Khortytsia National Reserve. – And for this the reserve works quite a lot. With the support of patrons, philanthropists, NGOs and just environmental activists over the past few years on Khortytsia planted more than 5 thousand different small seedlings, seedlings that do not require special care. About 700 “large ones” were also planted – for the revival, first of all, of park zones and various alleys. Now the climate is changing, the summer is very hot. And these large trees need special care. Without watering, they are more likely to die, or there will be a low percentage of trees that will survive..
And at the beginning of July, a very high temperature was noted in Zaporozhie, which adversely affected young trees. According to weather forecasts, it was not expected to rain, so the representatives of the reserve turned to the Works for help.
By the way, here, on the territory of the reserve, there are about two hundred trees that the Works has planted over the past two years.
– The Works planted trees at the most favorable time, in the fall, when the seedlings have the greatest chance to take root, – said the head of the social sphere of “Zaporizhstal” PJSC Sergei Samarsky. – We see that all the trees are alive, green. And not just because they are planted in a certain season. The trees in the reserve were taken care of. And we help with that. Because we understand that maintaining and increasing green areas is very important for our city.
