In Belgrade (Serbia), the European Athletics Indoor Championships came to the end. As part of the national team of Ukraine, three pupils of the sports club “Metallurg”, scholarship holders of “Zaporizhstal” steel works – Olesya Povkh , Anastasiya Bryzgina and Anastasia Tkachuk took part in this championship. Two of them returned home with the medals!
Olesya Povkh won the silver medal of the European Championship and cut her personal record. At the distance of 60 meters, the 29-year-old athlete has improved her personal record figure by running the shortest distance in track and field in 7.10 seconds. Another medal brought to Zaporozhye 19-year-old Anastasia Bryzgina. In Belgrade, the girl took a part as a member of the 4×400 m relay race together with Olga Bibik , Tatiana Melnik and Olga Lyakhova. Ukrainians confidently passed all stages of the relay, not allowing anyone to doubt their right to third place.
Another Zaporozhye citizen Anastasia Tkachuk fought for medals at a distance of 800 m in Belgrade, but she could not get on a pedestal. In total, the national team of Ukraine is taking medals from Belgrade in five disciplines.
