“ZAPORIZHSTAL” EMPLOYEES HELP MARIUPOL CITIZENS

“Zaporizhstal” employees did not remain indifferent to the disaster, which befell Mariupol residents on the 24th of January due to massive shelling of a residential area. On the 3rd of February “Zaporizhstal” Stell Works sent yet another humanitarian assistance and a team of volunteers, who will be helping to restore the buildings destroyed during shelling.

About 800 square meters of window glass was dispatched from the enterprise to Mariupol on the 3rd of February, and the next day 20 young “Zaporizhstal” employees went to the town on the sea.

“Mariupol civilians lost their housing because of the shelling and we cannot stand aside this tragedy. The first thing the citizens need right now is to restore housing, which was destroyed by the shelling. It is very important for Mariupol residents to understand that we know about them, we remember about them and we want to support them in the hour of need,” pointed out the head of the youth organization of JSC “Zaporizhstal” Serhiy Ilchenko.

The guys went to Mariupol with yet another batch of assistance from employees of “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works to the locals, who were harmed during the massive shelling. Youth organizations of various structural subdivisions of the works have gathered warm clothes, food and articles of prime necessity for Mariupol residents.

Earlier two KamAZ trucks with the capacity of 10 tons each had been loaded with different construction materials (window glass, polyethylene foil, ruberoid, bipole roofing material, and corrugated sheets) and dispatched for restoration of houses, damaged in the course of shelling, which resulted in loss of shelter by a lot of people.

It bears reminding that Metinvest Group in cooperation with the Rinat Akhmetov Humanitarian Center “Let’s Help” has been helping to overcome the consequences of the Mariupol tragedy since its very beginning.
