THE TRADITIONAL DONOR DAY WAS HELD AT THE WORKS

In the health center of “Zaporizhstal”, the Donor Day was held – those who wished could hand over their blood, which would then go to the city hospitals, children’s centers and military hospitals.

Donor days are held at the Works every two months, with the exception of summer – during this period, donor staff are recovering and gaining strength.

On average, for a year at the Zaporizhstal Works, up to 700 liters of blood is collected, and this is 1,400 doses. The collected blood is then stored in the bank of the Zaporozhye regional blood transfusion station, from where it is transferred to the medical institutions of the city.

— A lot of people come to us”, – said Svetlana Shaman, the head of Zaporizhstal health center. “The blood that these people take over, then is directed to the city’s hospitals, children’s centers and military hospitals. “Usually, blood is transfuse to oncology patients, victims of accidents, wounded fighters from the ATO zone, who suffered massive blood loss. Among our regular donors there are many young people. Those guys help the sick survive, because very often the account goes literally for a minute.
