PJSC “Zaporizhstal” is an integrated iron and steel enterprise which holds leading positions in steel production in Ukraine, volumes of export, currency supply, as well as tax deductions. In 2016 the Steel Works increased tax transfers to the budget of Ukraine by forwarding a record amount of UAH 3.2 billion to the state treasury. This is 28% (UAH 704 million) more than in 2015.

PJSC “Zaporizhstal” steadily works, develops and continues modernization using the most advanced, innovative and environmental protection technologies meeting all world standards.

The design capacity of the Steel Works allows to produce about 6.3 million tons of sinter, 4.2 million tons of iron, 4.07 million tons of steel, about 3.7 million tons of hot-rolled mill products, and about 1.2 million tons of cold-rolled mill products.

In 2016, 3600.2 thousand tons of iron, 3890.7 thousand tons of steel and 3367.9 thousand tons of rolled products were produced. The unique geographical location gives PJSC “Zaporizhstal” logistical advantages as a result of the proximity to raw materials’ suppliers, water routes and railroad lines.

In 2016 PJSC “Zaporizhstal” supplied more than 540 thousand tons of steel products to consumers by water through Zaporizhzhia river port.

The Steel Works systematically modernizes its production facilities, paying special attention to environmental issues. Since 2012, UAH 5.7 billion have been allocated for the environmental modernization and reconstruction of the Steel Works.

The main projects of the environmental modernization of the Steel Works are: the terminating project of modernization of gas purification systems of the sinter plant, major modernization of blast furnace No. 4 with the installation of the casthouse aspiration system and stockhouse bridge, construction of a new pickling line in cold rolling shop No. 1, major reconstruction of blast furnace No. 3.

Since 2013 6 gas purification plants have been built at “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works. Gas purification plants of sinter machines No. 1 and No. 2 are in normal operation. Nowadays gas purification plants of sinter machines No.3-6 are in pilot operation. With the production run into operation of gas purification plants, the sinter plant of the Steel Works will reach international environmental standards of dust and gas emissions purification. The operation of all 6 gas purification plants of the sinter plant is already positively affecting the ecological situation in the region. Through the environmental modernization of the sinter plant, the total dust emissions of the Steel Works decreased by 42%, compared to 2012. Modernization of gas purification plants of sinter machines No.3-6 allowed to provide air purification from dust up to 50 mg/m3, from sulfur dioxide – lower than 400 mg/m3.

Another large-scale project in 2016 is a major reconstruction of blast furnace No. 3. The unit will be equipped with a modern aspiration system, which will provide emissions purification from dust up to 50 mg/m3. The investment volume in the project will be about UAH 1.5 billion. Under the scope of the project a new casthouse aspiration system of blast furnace No. 2, equipped with highly-efficient bag filters with pulse regeneration, powerful draft equipment and a pneumatic conveying system for recycling trapped dust to production, was put into pilot operation. The number of staff of PJSC “Zaporizhstal” is about 13 thousand people. In 2016, the Steel Works raised the average wage by 17% compared to 2015, which nowadays is about UAH 11 thousand. Also, the employees of the Steel Works are provided with free medical insurance and medical services, regular sanatorium rehabilitation and other social benefits.
