Dandelion Jam, Chocolate Cheese and Fruit Bouquets: V All-Ukrainian Festival of Preservation Was Held In Zaporizhzhia City

Around eighty farmers from different parts of Ukraine came to present their products prepared according to original recipes, to the Cossacks and guests of the city. The festival was made possible thanks to the grant support of the contest “We Are City”.

This year, in addition to the traditional sweet and salty preservation, the festival presented craft cheese, homemade bread, spicy sauces, pastille and candied fruit. This year’s novelty was honey mousses, aromatic oils, spices and seasonings, meat products. All abovementioned products are homemade.

According to the president of the All-Ukrainian Preservation Festival Natalia Babenko, the event popularizes the culture and traditions of different nations:

First of all the Preservation Festival is the family values, traditions of the peoples – Ukrainian and others who live here. For example, we have an Armenian preservation. It is also an art, because each jar is shaped in a special way, with love. Moreover, the preservation is a tourism brand. Excursions that are specially planned for our festival will come to us this year. In addition, our guides are interested to cooperate with our manufacturers; this can be one of the destinations of such Zaporizhzhia tourism. For another thing, it is popularizing Ukrainian folk traditions and has a social purpose: collecting preservation for charity needs. So, over the past years, thanks to the participants of the festival, it was possible to transfer 5 tons of preservation to Ukrainian soldiers, in boarding schools and orphanages.
