The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, together with the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Association of Anesthesiologists of Ukraine, presented a new video project “COVID-19: what you need to know about work of artificial lung ventilation ALV.” This review series in mini-interview format is addressed to anyone interested in how ventilators save patients with complications of coronavirus infection.
Also, the videos provide basic information for physicians about the functionality of modern models of ventilators purchased for state hospitals in Ukraine by the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation and other organizations. The final series of the new overview course will be of interest to patients. It gives an idea of how person feels when he is connected to artificial lung ventilation, what and why doctors do with the patient.
It is important that, in addition, the Ministry of Health has organized online consultations on the use of ventilators for specialists in intensive care units. Seven most professional practitioners – anesthesiologists-resuscitators, will conduct them. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation will support this online educational program for doctors working in the regions as part of the fight against COVID using new equipment. Because, in addition to purchasing it, it is critically important to train physicians in the nuances of working with this equipment. And the review series is an important, but not the only contribution of the Foundation to training doctors to work with new devices.
“Now the whole world is fighting COVID-19, and ALV have become the No. 1 medical equipment, a real race has unfolded for them in world markets, since they help save the lives of those who have serious complications from the coronavirus. The Rinat Akhmetov Foundation literally breaks through the supply of these devices to Ukraine 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Because now it is not enough to pay – you need to have time to snatch the equipment we paid for from richer countries. Some of the ventilators have already been delivered and installed in public hospitals in different regions of the country. Since the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation purchases the most modern equipment, we consider it our duty to help doctors master it faster in order to effectively save people. This is why the mini-series was created, said Natalya Yemchenko, a member of the Fund’s Supervisory Board.
Professional explanation of the new devices operating principles in the series gives Denis Surkov, head of the department of anesthesiology and intensive care for newborns Regional Children’s Hospital of the Dnieper, PhD, Lecturer, Department of Disaster Medicine and Military Medicine Dnipropetrovsk medical academy of Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
“The series is intended to help specialists who will or are already using resuscitation equipment in practice to rescue patients with complications of coronavirus infection, to quickly find a common language with modern digital medical equipment,” said Sergey Dubrov, President of the Association of Anesthesiologists of Ukraine.
Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine Valeria Ionan thanked the Foundation for cooperation in the field of distance learning.
“As a person who has no medical education, but who is interested in what is happening in the world of medicine, even while watching episodes that are intended for medical personnel, I found a lot of interesting things for myself. All three series of the video course will be useful for anyone interested in how the ALV works. Even for people without medical education. We are grateful to the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation for the idea, support and filming of this series,” said Valeria Ionan.
The series will be available on YouTube channel and on pages in social networks Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, as well as the portal “Dіya. Digital education” Ministry of Digital Transformation.
Earlier, the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, created unique educational series for teachers (Quarantine: Online Services for Teachers) and, together with FC Shakhtar, for schoolchildren (Digital Physical Education for Schoolchildren with Sports Stars). Video courses are posted on the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation Facebook page and on the YouTube channel.
Together with the Ukraine TV channel, the Foundation has created social videos urging older people to adhere to rule number one during quarantine – to stay at home. In series #Bat’kiVDOMA participate hosts from “Ukraina” TV channel – the ambassadors of the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation – Igor Pupkov, Oleg Panyuta , Grigory German, Alexey Sukhanov and the famous journalist Savik Shuster.
