The First Secretary of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Ukraine Rini Buss Visited PJSC “Zaporizhstal”

On April 20, 2018 the First Secretary of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Ukraine Rini Buss visited “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works.  During the visit, Rini Buss was acquainted with the environmental modernization of the enterprise and visited the reconstructed blast furnace No. 3.

Rostislav Shurma, CEO of the PJSC “Zaporizhstal”, discussed with the representatives of the Dutch delegation the innovative solutions for Ukraine that were applied during the development and implementation of the blast furnace No. 3 reconstruction project. In particular, he noted the significant contribution of Mammoet (Holland) to the project: the SKD assembly of the unit with the help of the partner company crane, made it possible to significantly shorten the terms of the project implementation.  During the meeting, prospects for further cooperation were also discussed.

“The use of the SKD assembly in the project for the reconstruction of blast furnace No. 3 has become a real phenomenon in the industrial construction of Ukraine.  Together with other innovative solutions that were applied in the design and implementation of the project, we were able to build the furnace in record time – it took eight months instead of two years.  Today, blast furnace No. 3 is an example of modern metallurgical production not only in Ukrainian, but also in European scale,” noted Rostislav Shurma, CEO of PJSC “Zaporizhstal”.

Recall, the mega-crane of the Dutch company Mammoet, was involved in the SKD assembly of of blast furnace No. 3 with an investment of 1.5 billion UAH.  The height of the crane is 143 m, weight is 2000 tons, and lifting capacity is 1600 tons.  On a large-scale reconstruction of the furnace, the crane operated for 5 months, during this period about 7,000 tons of metal structures were assembled with the help of this crane.
