Zaporizhstal, Zaporizhogneupor and the Zaporizhzhia Foundry and Mechanical Plant, together with FC Shakhtar, implemented the “Come on, play!” Project in Zaporizhzhia. For three hundred little Zaporizhzhia citizens who are in love with football, training will be held at three modern football venues in the city. Classes are held by certified coaches, and training, thanks to the support of Metinvest enterprises, is absolutely free.
“To involve children in sports, to channel the “sea” of energy into a channel that is beneficial for them, is the main goal of the “Come on, play!” Project, which we are implementing in partnership with the Shakhtar football club. Interest in the game among children is growing every year. As a response to this request, sports infrastructure is improving in Zaporizhzhia, the city is building new playing fields, and responsible business is implementing such cool sports projects that help taking children out of the streets and giving them the most important thing – the dream and the opportunity to realize it,” said Zaporizhstal General Director Rostyyslav Shurma at the grand launch of the project “Come on, play! ”.
Zaporizhzhia is the twenty-fourth city in a row where the All-Ukrainian project is launched, aimed at popularizing football and a healthy lifestyle among children. Full provision of free training was guaranteed by Zaporizhzhia enterprises of the Metinvest Group: Zaporizhstal, Zaporizhogneupor and ZLMZ purchased all the necessary equipment and supplies. Shakhtar Social non-profit fund FC Shakhtar provided training for qualified volunteer coaches.
More than 300 of Zaporizhzhia citizens aged 7-12 will engage in their favorite sport three times a week and participate in competitions.
Zaporizhstal systematically supports the development of children’s sports in Zaporizhzhia. The Works finances rehabilitation and recreation for pupils of the Zaporizhzhia regional center “Invasport”. Since 2015, Zaporizhstal has been providing financing for the activities of the Metallurg youth sports school. Social investments in the development of the children’s academy have already amounted to UAH 30 million.
