On March 10 in the Hub of the public organization “Zaporizhzhia. Platform for Joint Action” a presentation of a large-scale tree-planting action “Greening the Planet” took place. Zaporizhzhia enterprises of Metinvest and the public organization “Green Center Metinvest” announced their readiness to support the environmental initiative, which will take place on April 10, and signed a memorandum of cooperation.
Last year, under the “Greening of Ukraine” campaign, two million trees were planted throughout the country in one day. Svetlana Vanyukhina, director of the Social Business Initiatives charitable foundation, co-organizer of the “Greening of Ukraine” project in Zaporizhzhia region, said that this year the project has acquired a global scale – 100 countries of the world are joining the initiative. For residents of Zaporizhzhia who want to join the action, the main locations for planting trees are the Victory Park and Voznesenovsky Park near the cascade of fountains “Raduga”.
Zaporizhzhia enterprises of Metinvest – “Zaporizhstal”, “Zaporozhkoks”, “Zaporozhgneupor” and the Zaporizhzhia Foundry and Mechanical Plant – will continue systematic landscaping of the bank protection section of the Zavodskoy District, where in 2020 volunteers – employees of the enterprise planted 350 trees. On April 10, 2021, the green zone will be supplemented with 300 young seedlings of willows and maples. Another 100 trees will be planted by volunteers of the Zaporizhzhia office of “Green Center Metinvest” along Demokraticheskaya Street.
