Zaporizhstal as a part of Metinvest Group continues the environmental modernization of production – the construction of additional aspirations at the tail sections of sintering machines has been started, investments will amount to UAH 235 million. Earlier, Zaporizhstal installed modern bag filters on each of the six sintering machines, cleaning the air from dust – up to 30 mg / m3, from sulfur dioxide – to a level below 400 mg / m3, having invested UAH 1.2 billion in the sinter machine eco-modernization project.
The existing aspiration system for each of the six sintering machines will be improved with two bag filters, which will increase the volume of air purified from the tailpieces by 1.5 times from 1,600,000 to 2,400,000 m³ / hour. When the finished agglomerate is unloaded onto conveyor belts, the dust will be captured and returned back to production as a burden.
“The next stage of ecological modernization of the sinter plant will further reduce the burden on the environment. It is important to understand that previously 80% of all plant emissions were generated at the sinter plant. After its complete modernization, we have reached modern European environmental standards in the production of sinter, significantly reducing dust”, – said CEO of Zaporizhstal Aleksandr Mironenko.
The reliable operation of gas cleaning systems is ensured by a specialized service for monitoring and controlling the operation of gas cleaning systems at the sinter plant. Each sinter machine is equipped with emission control sensors that show the efficiency of the gas cleaning equipment in online mode with a resolution of milliseconds.
The largest Ukrainian manufacturer – Berdichev Machine-Building Plant “Progress” will supply the main gas cleaning equipment for the project, draft equipment – by Reitz India, Siemens VAI automation systems will be installed by the Ukrainian company ALD Engineering and Construction.
