“Zaporizhstal” of Metinvest Group, together with the Rinat Akhmetov Foundation, handed over backup power systems to the Zaporizhia City Hospital No. 9 and the Zaporizhia Hospital of Emergency and Urgent Medical Care, which will ensure the uninterrupted operation of medical departments in the event of a blackout of the main power supply network. The total investment in the project amounted to 20 million hryvnias.
“The professionalism and courage of our doctors is beyond doubt. These are real heroes who reliably hold their medical front. An equally important component in the struggle to save lives, along with personal responsibility of people, is the reliability of equipment. In order to ensure the stability of the medical equipment, Zaporizhstal financed the equipping of the city’s main hospitals with powerful backup power systems to ensure the autonomy of the hospitals’ operation, – not-ed Oleksandr Myronenko, General Director of Zaporizhstal, Metinvest Group.
In both hospitals, the operation of backup power systems will be provided by two autonomous Darex Energy diesel generators (manufacturer – Ukraine) with a nominal capacity of 392 kW and 250 kW. These systems will ensure the autonomy and stability of the life support equipment in conditions of fluctuating voltage in the central power grid or a complete power outage. The generators are equipped with an automatic transfer switch system, which allows you to instantly switch the hospital facilities to backup power in the event of a blackout in the main network.
Critically important departments of hospitals – accident and emergency, surgical, intensive care, as well as key equip-ment – oxygen stations, angiographs, MRI machines, blood transfusions, etc., are connected to the new backup power supply system. Uninterrupted power supply of critically important medical facilities is the key to saving patients’ lives.
