The fifth year without interruption PJSC “Zaporizhstal” carries through ecological campaign “Save the Dnieper together!”. On November 05th, 2016 within limits of the public initiative, around 10 thousand species of white silver carps and grass carps, which are natural river ameliorators, have been released into the river, and 500 kg. of rubbish are picked up from bottom of the river Dnieper.
In addition, within limits of the ecological campaign “Save the Dnieper together!” subbotnik “Clean city” has taken place in 2016 on embankment highway.
1100 Zaporozhye citizens including students, representatives of public organizations, and not indifferent citizens, as well as representatives of the regional federation of underwater hunting, diving and fishery, city organization of hunters and fishers, and the National Nature Reserve «Hortitsa» have taken part in this widespread ecological initiative “Save the Dnieper together!”.

«We carry on campaign “Save the Dnieper together!” since 2012 and every year its immensity grows. During this period within limits of the action, 130 thousand of species have been released into the Dnieper, annually we clean river streambed and bank line along the embankment highway. Issues of environmental protection for us are not only ecological modernization of the Steel Works, but also improvement of the whole region ecosystem. Only such complex approach to this question produce good results», has noted Rostislav Shurma, the General Director of PJSC “Zaporizhstal".
In the course of campaign “Save the Dnieper together!”, in addition to stocking with fish, divers of the regional federation of underwater hunting, diving and fishery have been clearing the bottom of river Dnieper. Summarizing the results of subbotnik “Clean city” on the embankment highway, around 16 tons of rubbish were collected and taken out.

Within limits of the ecological campaign “Save the Dnieper together!”, a subbotnik has also taken place on island Hortitsa. Here, on a place of uninhabited building, rubbish and building materials have been collected and taken out, soil has been brought, and trees and grass have been planted.
It should be noted that in 2016 it is the final stage of the ecological campaign “Save the Dnieper together!”. Earlier, in April and September within limits of the campaign, PJSC “Zaporizhstal” has carried out ecological quests on island Hortitsa for 100 schoolchildren.
Let us remind, that PJSC “Zaporizhstal” carries out the public ecological campaign “Save the Dnieper together!” since 2012. In total, 5200 participants have taken part in it for the period 2012-2015, more than 80 tons of rubbish have been collected, 117 thousand of fish species have been released into the river, 5000 spawning grounds for fish and 30 floating nests for birds have been placed, and 500 oak plantlets have been planted.
