On 18 October 2018, Zaporozhye was visited by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Ukraine, Martin Hagström, during his working trip.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Sweden to Ukraine, Martin Hagström, took an interest in the complex program of Zaporizhstal's ecological modernization. He visited the works’ modern control room and got acquainted with the visualization and monitoring system for technological processes called “Company on the palm,” which integrates an industrial emissions online monitoring system.

Within the framework of the visit to the works, Mr. Ambassador attended one of the ecological modernization facilities at Zaporizhstal Works, recognized as the best industrial facility of 2014 by the State Architectural and Construction Supervision Authority (GASK) – the new pickling unit in Cold Rolling Mill Shop No 1. Martin Hagström emphasized the positive dynamics in the ecologization of production processes in the company and highlighted the application of green solutions. Since 2012, the works have allocated more than 8.8 billion grivnas for these purposes.

«Issues of enterprises' ecological reconstruction are very urgent in Sweden. Based on the results of visiting Zaporizhstal, I see that the works move along the same development path as our companies. The works have realized significant investment projects, including those that cooperated with Swedish companies. A considerable number of promising projects were outlined. “It’s a right European development path,” – Martin Hagström remarked.

During the visit, the diplomat also held a meeting with Zaporozhye city mayor Vladimir Buriak to discuss partnership in the implementation of the “Safe City” project. In addition, Mr. Ambassador was familiarized with the construction project of a linear accelerator in Zaporozhye.
