The III Sports Contest among technical schools and colleges of the metallurgical and mining profile took place in the Zaporizhstal sports hall. Sportsmen of 11 educational institutions took part in the contest. The team of the Zaporozhye metallurgical college participated in the contest in a sports’ uniform with an emblem of “Zaporizhstal”, the sponsor of the college team. The college team led by the physical training teacher S.A. Kryzhko, became the winner of competitions in basketball, table tennis and chess and was the second winner among field-and-track athletes and weight lifters. Our sportsmen won the first place in the team event. This sports contest brought Yuliya Kruglova the largest number of medals. She was the winner in the 100 m run, long jumps and the silver winner in the relay race.
Recently the college physical culture teacher Sergey Alexandrovich Kryzhko, by the Order of the President of Ukraine, was awarded the title “Honourable Educationalist of Ukraine” for the major personal contribution to the development and popularization of physical culture and sports in Ukraine, professionalism and achievement of high sports results.
