PJSC “ZAPOROZHSTAL” of METINVEST Group donated 4441 tonnes of certified medical oxygen to med-ical institutions throughout Ukraine to save lives of COVID-19 patients since April till December 2021.
In the course of 2021 liquid medical oxygen of PJSC “Zaporozhstal” was received by more than 30 hospitals in Zaporozhye, Dnepropetrovsk, Sumy, Kiev, Zhytomyr, Kharkov, Kherson, Donetsk, Lugansk, Nikolaev and Khmel-nytsky Regions free of charge.November became the peak shipment month, when the amount of PJSC “Zaporozhstal” oxygen, sent to health workers amounted to 1400 tonnes.
“Thousands of COVID-19 patients needed oxygen support.PJSC “Zaporozhstal” of Metinvest went for broke in order to provide them with the lifesaving medical means.During peak periods we shipped oxygen 24/7, without the slightest delays. We did our best in order to fight the pandemic off and save people’s lives.In 2022 we will continue to provide medical institutions with free air produced by PJSC “Zaporozhstal”, said PJSC “Zaporozhstal Iron and Steel Works” General Director Aleksandr Mironenko.
The largest volumes of medical oxygen over the whole period of its shipment by the works were received by pub-lic hospitals of Zaporozhye and regional infectious diseases hospital – more than 2500 tonnes.It is worth remind-ing, that Zaporozhye Regional Infectious Diseases Clinical Hospital is the base COVID-hospital of the region, where PJSC”Zaporozhstal” and METINVEST supported by Rinat Akhmetov Foundation funded the construction of a modern oxygen station, as well as carried out a major overhaul of the hospital department, that had been damaged by fire previously.
Apart from PJSC “Zaporozhstal”, three more enterprises of METINVEST Group provide oxygen free of charge for the needs of hospitals in Ukraine.Since October, when there was an acute shortage of oxygen, Metinvest Group extended the geography of shipping for the treatment of COVID-19 patients by a request from Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine. The company’s enterprises, particularly PJSC “Zaporozhstal”, were shipping oxygen free of charge to 110 hospitals in 17 regions of Ukraine.Over the period of October-November, 2021 Metinvest enter-prises shipped 5529 tonnes of oxygen to hospitals. Metinvest supplies every fourth ton of oxygen to hospitals. One ton of oxygen meets the needs of approximately one hundred patients.
It is worth reminding, that in April 2021 PJSC “ZAPOROZHSTAL” of METINVEST Group obtained a registration certificate from The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine for the production of liquid oxygen for the use as a medical pharmaceutical product. At that time the works started donating oxygen to medical institutions of Zaporozhye Re-gion free of charge.
