PJSC “Zaporizhstal” has chosen the winners of the student contest “Khortytsia – making dreams come true”

On July 26, 2021 the final of the student contest “Khortytsia – making dreams come true” took place among students of Zaporizhzhia National University for the best social projects for the Khortytsiais-land.The inititiator and sponsor of the Contest was represented by PJSC “Zaporizhstal” of METINVEST Group in partnership with Public Organisation “Zaporizhzhia.Joint Actions Platform” and the “Khortytsia” National Natural Reserve.

Three best students’ projects under the voting results of expert jury will be refined together with the contest ex-perts and the team of Public Organisation”Zaporizhzhia. Joint Actions Platform”and implemented with the finan-cial support of PJSC “Zaporizhstal”.For these purposes, the works has allocated more than UAH 300 ths.

The contest goal is to support the topical ideas of social projects for the Khortytsia island, as well as to attract the young to implement the ideas of the city’s cultural and social and economic development, provide an opportunity for the young to take part in the big project of the Khortytsia reconstruction, which is implemented at the state, regional and city level with the participation of socially responsible business.

In total the students of Zaporizhzhia National University had filed 30 projects for the Khortytsia development for the contest “Khortytsia – making dreams come true” on the following fields:history, culture, archeology, landscape, design, healthy way of life.

One of them is the project of a Zaporizhzhia National University’s student Sergey Vashenko “Community” on the development of a general system of pedestrian and cycling navigation across the island.

The contest jury also highly appreciated two ideas of a Zaporizhzhia National University’s student Irina Ulchen-ko.The first one is the creation of a tourist marked route with different natural coatings “Barefoot”.The peculiarity of this path is that it is supposed to be walked on solely barefoot.The idea of this second Irina’s project, which is called “NEzumno”, is about installing web-cameras for surveillance over the island fauna in wintertime.

“The young always has ideas, business has possibilities for them to come true.So on this crossing the contest had been born, which we started a month ago.I am confident, that:young, talented and passionate people, who, like Metinvest, see a responsible attitude to the home region development as their priorities, will always have our support and assistance for their projects implementation” – remarked General Director of PJSC “ZA-PORIZHSTAL” Aleksandr Mironenko.

It is worth reminding, that Metinvest is the strategic partner of the National Khortytsia Reconstruction Project, as a part of the Memorandum signed on April 23, 2021 between Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, Zaporizhzhia Regional Public Administration and PJSC “ZAPORIZHSTAL”.
