On October 31, 2016, a presentation of a new uniform and logos for the city children’s and youth sports school "Metalurg" took place at the Sports Complex "Metalurg". PJSC “Zaporizhstal” equipped the young athletes with new uniforms, sports equipment, and committed substantial financial support to enhance the training process and competition participation.
Since the beginning of the current year, PJSC “Zaporizhstal” has already provided financial support amounting to 2.25 million UAH. These funds have been allocated for organizing the training process and participating in competitions, as well as for food, renting housing for out-of-towners, medical supplies, and transportation costs. Additionally, pupils of the children’s and youth sports school "Metallurg" received summer and winter sports uniforms and training equipment (balls, chips, cones, etc.).
"Today we can say with confidence that the children’s and youth football school in Zaporozhye will live and make progress. A new generation of talented players will grow together with it. The children’s and youth sports school 'Metalurg' has all it needs for this: a good coaching staff, talented young sportsmen, and reliable support from the city and 'Zaporizhstal' Steel Works,” said Rostislav Shurma, the CEO of PJSC «Zaporizhstal».
It is important to note that the Zaporozhye children's football school "Metallurg" faced the threat of closure at the beginning of this year due to team liquidation, which halted the financing of the educational institution. Several hundred children were expelled from the school, raising concerns about the team’s ability to finish the junior football league championship of Ukraine. In a bid to maintain the longstanding tradition of youth football in Zaporozhye, the City Council decided to establish the children's and youth sports school "Metalurg Zaporozhye." Through this initiative, PJSC "Zaporizhstal" has also financed the children's and youth sports school "Metallurg" for four away matches and coordinated four home matches.
