On Tuesday, the 5th of April, 2016, the Chief Executive Officer of PJSC «Zaporizhstal» Rostyslav Shurma held a working meeting with the People’s deputies of Ukraine Oleg Lyashko and Viktor Galasyuk, who paid a visit to the Works. The People’s deputies visited the main production shops and met the work collective.

During the discussion on the perspectives for the economic development of Ukraine, Rostyslav Shurma declared:

«Complicated economic situation, problems faced by the enterprises of the real economic sector, impact on living standards of people. We focus all our efforts on settlement of all economic problems, on solving the problems of our enterprise operation, because these issues are directly associated with the living standards of our employees. We are ready to solve the problems jointly, so that to provide a stable growth of not only steel making industry but of the entire economy of Ukraine».

The Chief Executive Officer of PJSC «Zaporizhstal» Rostyslav Shurma noted that increase of the railway tariffs and scrap metal shortage are current serious problems that may cause shutdown of many steelmaking enterprises.

In his turn, the People’s deputy of Ukraine Oleg Lyashko declared:

«With a shortage of scrap for almost one million tons for Ukrainian industry, they continue to take out scrap from Ukraine. This may lead to the Ukrainian metallurgists losing their jobs. In addition, "Ukrzaliznytsia" plans to raise tariffs for railway transportation. In our opinion - it is absolutely discriminatory policy aimed at the destruction of national manufacturer».

During the visit, Lyashko noted that "Zaporizhstal" Steel Works is the key enterprise not only for Zaporozhye city, but also for the whole economy and the country, for filling the budget and creating working places.

«If we want to have high social standards of life and a successful country, then the key issue is its economic development and jobs. Therefore, there is a task for the Government and the Parliament - to create conditions for the development of its own economy and industry. State policy, monetary, tax, and investment policies should be aimed at the interests of the national producer», said the People's deputy of Ukraine Oleg Lyashko.

The Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Industrial Policy and Entrepreneurship Victor Galasyuk declared:

«We propose an action plan with the following anti-crisis components for the normal operation of mining and steelmaking complex. The first is to raise export duties for scrap metal, so that scrap remains in Ukraine, and the second is to prevent raising tariffs for railway transportation. "Ukrzaliznytsia" must look for internal reserves and implement a program of modernization without raising tariffs».
