The Works has concluded a contract with the German firm “Kuettner” on the construction of a unit for PCI into blast furnaces. Though the project of the unit proper was submitted by the firm itself, there was enough work to be done by the design personnel from “Ukrgipromez” and the project-design engineering department of the Works, in particular, the industrial construction bureau. Design engineers Tamara Sorokina, Vladimir Doroshenko, Sergey Reznik, Lyubov Kiselyova, Andrey Prokhatskiy, Yevgeniy Didyka, headed by Vladimir Kascheev, had to urgently search for technical decisions regarding shifting of energy supply pipelines and it had to fulfill detailing of smoke stacks.

Design engineer Yuriy Marchenko, together with the capital construction department, was obliged to control the fulfillment of the construction erection work in complete correspondence with the project. Day by day the construction of the PCI system is gathering pace. The general contractor fulfilling this order is SMU-1 of “Zaporozhstalstroy” JSC. As acting Chairman of the Board V.I. Evdokimenko stated, erection of the metal structures of the bunker overpasses has started. Approximately 500 reinforced piles have been overdriven. Practically in several days in July 400 m2 of concrete was poured into its foundation.

All these jobs are carried out by tried partners of the general contractor from “Gidrospetsfundamentstroy’ together with SMU-1 of “Zaporozhstalstroy” headed by superintendents of sectors No. 5 and 10, Yevgeniy Androsovich and Alexey Alexeenko. The collective of sectors Nos. 1, 6, 9, headed by Eduard Zadorozhniy, Alexander Melnichuk and Andrey Vlasov, are busy mounting metal structures of the distributing device and installing equipment. Specialists of sector No.2 headed by work superintendent Vladimir Nosov are busy with the construction of the compressor express-laboratory.

The power-producing management of SMU-1 (Director Sergey Moytalo) is busy laying external networks, such as oxygen and nitrogen pipelines and other communications.
