In September, 2012, “Zaporizhstal” Steel & Iron Integrated Works had concluded a Cooperation Agreement with Zaporizhzhya river port, a subsidiary of JSSC “Ukrrechflot”.
As a part of the concluded agreements, the system of “Zaporizhstal” Works’ production delivery to the consumers of Black Sea and Mediterranean regions will be optimized. The monthly average volume of transshipment of goods through Zaporizhzhia river port will be about 30 thousand tons of steel rolled stock. For these purposes, joint-stock shipping company “Ukrrechflot” will provide its own ships of “river — sea”-type of 3.5 tons displacement. All shipments will be delivered by rail to Zaporizhzhia river port. The Works has already announced the plans to transport up to 160 cars — 50% of the cars are from “Ukrzaliznytsia” and 50% are its own.
Currently, the highly mechanized modern Zaporizhzhia river port, capable of handling more than 3 million tons of different cargo per year, is not being used to full capacity. Through a partnership with “Zaporizhstal” Works, the enterprise will be able to significantly increase the handled cargo traffic.
