«Zaporizhstal» Steel Works has launched the hot dump processing unit “AMCOM” to utilize industrial wastes, aiming to reduce environmental impact.
Production capacity of the slag processing complex “AMKOM” is 150 thousand tons of slag wastes per month. Thanks to the new complex of equipment, the Steel Works would extract additionally 100 thousand tons per year of secondary metal containing raw material for its own production.

Besides, the new unit would significantly decrease the quantity of solid wastes from the Steel Works, allowing for effective use of the dump area for the storage of slag, for future construction without the need to allocate new lands, and help to lessen the environmental impact of slag wastes.
“Slag hot dump in the Valey Srednya, during several decades was the symbol of criminality and thievery. At present, things were put in order in this area, and a modern production site was set up for processing of industrial wastes. It is 47 new working places and an important part of the industrial cycle of metallurgical production,” said Rostyslav Shurma, CEO of “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works.

The introduction of slag processing technology with the help of the “AMCOM” complex would lead to a decrease in the Steel Works’ expenses on purchasing iron ore raw materials for production, thereby reducing the prime cost of manufactured products.
