April 22 in Kiev took place the opening of the International Environmental Forum “Environment for Ukraine” (hereinafter – the Forum). The great officers of state, foreign guests and representatives of environmental community participated in the opening ceremony.

The “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works representatives took an active part in a work of the Forum sections.

The “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works – is a modern enterprise which conducts ecological modernization and seeks to comply with all European standards in all areas, as well as to be both competitive and environmentally sound”, – said the director of work safety, industrial and technological safety of the “Zaporozhstal” Steel Works Igor Chernyak.

Also, within the framework of the Forum, on April 23 it will be held the VIII International exhibition “Environment 2015”, where an exposition of Metinvest Group, which presents its new environment-oriented projects, will be represented among others.

It is important to note that over the past two years, on the “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works was built and put into operation a new sintering machine number 1 with high efficient gas purification, a large-scale modernization of the blast furnace number 4 with the installation of aspiration system of casting yard and stock house was conducted, also it was completed the construction of a new pickling line in the cold rolling department, the construction and commissioning of a gas cleaning of sintering machine number 2 now at the end, major projects in the sphere of energy efficiency and energy saving were implemented.

According to the implementation of the Technological Strategy of Metinvest Group further program of modernization of the “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works includes sequential reconstruction of gas cleaning of sintering machines № 3 – № 6, that would help to achieve a reduction of emission into the atmosphere of dust and gas on each sintering machine at 10% of the total emissions of the Works. Investments in the reconstruction of 6 sintering machines 70 million USD.
