The "Zaporizhstal" Steel Works actively participated in the International Environmental Forum "Environment for Ukraine", held on April 22 in Kiev, which was attended by state officials, foreign guests, and representatives of the environmental community.
The "Zaporizhstal" Steel Works representatives took an active part in the work of the Forum sections.
"For us, participation in the Forum is an opportunity to share experience, adopt best ideas, advanced technologies, and become familiar with current trends in the field of ecology and environmental protection. The 'Zaporizhstal' Steel Works is a modern enterprise that conducts ecological modernization and seeks to comply with all European standards in all areas, as well as to be both competitive and environmentally sound," said Igor Chernyak, the director of work safety, industrial, and technological safety of the "Zaporizhstal" Steel Works.

Additionally, within the framework of the Forum, the VIII International exhibition "Environment 2015" will be held on April 23, where Metinvest Group will present its new environment-oriented projects among others.
It is important to note that over the past two years at the "Zaporizhstal" Steel Works, a new sintering machine number 1 with high efficient gas purification has been built and put into operation. A large-scale modernization of blast furnace number 4, including the installation of an aspiration system for the casting yard and stockhouse, has been conducted. Furthermore, the construction of a new pickling line in the cold rolling department was completed, and the construction and commissioning of gas cleaning for sintering machine number 2 are nearing completion. Major projects focused on energy efficiency and energy saving have also been implemented.
According to the implementation of the Technological Strategy of Metinvest Group, the further modernization program for the "Zaporizhstal" Steel Works includes the sequential reconstruction of gas cleaning for sintering machines numbers 3 to 6. This initiative aims to achieve a reduction of dust and gas emissions into the atmosphere by 10% for each sintering machine, which contributes to the overall emission reduction of the Works. The investments for the reconstruction of all 6 sintering machines total 70 million USD.
