A solemn opening of a cultural site – a travelling Cossack forge, took place on the premises of a historical and cultural complex “700 years-old Zaporizhzhya Oak”. “Zaporizhstal” Steel Works financed its construction within the framework of the contest “We Are the City” by providing a grant in the amount of 57 thousand UAH.
The project was initiated by All-Ukrainian Non-Governmental Organization “All-Ukrainian Federation Spas”, one of its areas of activity is preserving cultural heritage of the Ukrainian nation, enriching and developing Ukrainian traditions. In three months the project organizers built and equipped a unique site – the permanent travelling Cossack forge. A new site will be included into guided tours, hands-on seminars for learning forging skills will be held there.
“The Cossack Forge” is a unique cultural and historical site, which will harmoniously fit into the complex next to Zaporizhzhya Oak. It will introduce one of the ancient crafts, mastered by Zaporizhzhya Cossacks, to Zaporizhzhya citizens and guests of the city.
“This object will contribute not only to strengthening the tourism appeal of our city as the one with rich history, but also to development of the Ukrainian ethnic culture and patriotic upbringing of the younger generation,” pointed out the President of All-Ukrainian Non-Governmental Organization “All-Ukrainian Federation SPAS” Oleksandr Prytula.
